…efforts of a want-a-be photographer

Weekly Photo Challenge: Beyond

This is just my second posting to the Weekly Photo Challenge.  I’m not sure how most are approaching the challenge, but I want to take each week’s challenge as an assignment rather than to post past images.  It will give me an opportunity to make a new image.

I live in northern Virginia, and just outside the capitol beltway.  When I first saw the challenge, I immediately thought about going downtown and capturing an image of the Lincoln Memorial with the Washington Monument and US Capitol in the background.  I might have simply taken that option, but while driving around Lake Anna State Park this afternoon I thought this might make a nice image and give me an opportunity to try out Nik HDR Efex Pro 2.  Everything is void of color this time of year, so I thought the software might pull out a little something and make a nice image.

You never know what lies beyond the next curve in the road.

  1. This is a beautiful photograph! I really like to try and take the photo challenge as an assignment too, but lately I just pull something up from the past. Way to go on getting out and taking a great shot!

  3. Hi Chris, nice images… what’s the weekly photo competition then? Is it just in your area?
